I absolutely loved this book. It gave me everything I needed to quench my appetite for an easy five star review. The delicious feast of cutting humour kept me completely immersed and on the edge of the dinner table from the first few lines. I was completely captivated from start to finish in this brilliant story. Six friends embark on their own version of ‘Come Dine with Me: the wife swap edition’. And without wanting to spoil this brilliant plot; it soon turns into a culinary catastrophe. As the say goes, ‘what a tangled life we lead…,’ ; and this is certainly true in this gripping story. In my mind, this book is an instant hit and if the T.V programme was ever produced, would surely be a runaway success. This is purely down to author’s abundance of literary skill and innate ability to take his reader on a journey of vivid discovery. I was intrigued by the complexities of the relationships that existed between the characters. I particularly loved J.S Gray’s ability to engage the reader in his simmering world of seduction. I was totally immersed and equally enthralled by the authors ability to draw upon everyday relatable reference in his story telling. This is nothing short of a literary triumph. I can’t wait to see what this wonderful author serves us next. I will definitely be making reservations for his next course of literary J.s Gray’s genius.

The first thing I can think of when summarizing this book is hilarious, and the second thought I have is that it’s one of the spiciest books I’ve ever read. If you’re a fan of either of those things stop reading this and go get this book now.

Books in journal or diary format are always a blast for me. That style works perfectly for a book like this, as Shawn documents his dating escapades, talks about his slightly over invested but lovable parents, and navigates college and coming of age with his memorable friends. There’s not a lot of heavy plot, mostly a series of anecdotes tied loosely together. Almost every chapter had a surprise twist toward the end that had me laughing out loud.

There’s plenty of good excerpts to pull, but I don’t want to spoil the enjoyment for anyone else. And it was very nice to read something on the lighter scale, not bogged down by drama. I’d still say this book is quite sensational and I read fast out of excitement for what was…uh…coming next.

We don’t get to know the characters super well but that felt authentic to a journal or diary because it felt true to dropping in on someone’s life for a period of time and added to the fun of everything that was happening. I admired Shawn’s confidence and opennness to new experiences and got a kick out of his best friend Ainsley. Shawn’s supportive and dolting parents were also highly entertaining.

I haven’t decided if I’m satisfied by the ending. When it was going to go one way I thought it might have been a little too Hallmark, then the actual ending went (literally) all in and I found that more believable to the story. Somehow I still wanted a little more to the conclusion, but that was probably the point. I had a great time reading something slightly different than I usually read and highly recommend this one. And I absolutely adored the Britishness of it all.

It’s also incredibly relatable 🤣. We may not have all had Shawn’s exact experiences, but we all have those nightmare stories of the hookups that went horribly wrong!
Shawn has known he’s gay for awhile, but he’s not been confident in his body. Now that he’s lost his “baby fat” and boosted his confidence, he’s ready to get out there, and especially to lose his virginity. Shawn decides to write down all of his experiences, mainly as an education for future Shawn. His detailed accounts are both really sexy and insanely funny. Shawn is trying it all to see what he likes and want he wants, and it’s a sexy, funny, and at times emotional journey.
I’d highly recommend this book, it was so much fun and Shawn is a character many will relate to!

Immediately on finishing this book I dove into the authors page for another book to read and according to amazon their is none. That cannot be right as this author is fantastic I cannot believe that this is the only book out there. I just cannot do justice in my review of this book it is a beautiful, believable, erotic and did I mention beautiful story of two young hearts finding their way in life with the truthfulness of breaking up and the mistakes we all make. After rereading about the author I think this maybe his story, true or not its more than worth your time I loved it

This is something completely different to my usual books that I go for but as I thoroughly enjoyed the author's first book I had to give this one a go too. They are very different from one another and yet I still found myself really enjoying this just as much. A truthful and very real coming out story. Edgy and sharp storytelling that will have you laughing one minute and feeling the emotes the next. A big thumbs up and absolutely worth the read.
